Summer vacation means time to visit my nieces and nephews, and to my nieces and nephews a visit from Aunt Mindy means presents. This trip they get to share a High School Musical 2 DVD (not that they need it seeing as how they could relive the movie experience by watching Jonah perform all the dance numbers he has memorized) and a backyard water toy that has 15 spray nozzles that wiggle while squirting water at anything in a 30 yard radius (including Aunt Mindy, Aunt Mindy's camera, and the kitchen floor via the screen door).
The boys were pretty excited to get it set up, but they sent Ruby in to test it first. She seemed to enjoy standing just out of range and sticking her hand into one of the water jets.
True to form, Bentley and Maxwell spent their time battling the new toy and beating the water into submission.
Jonah, mean while, chose to spend his time watching safe and dry from the sidelines.
After everyone was sufficiently wet and traumatized, it was time to get snow cones, the real reason for my trip. There is a great snow cone place at the park near Jenny's house and my goal for each of my summer trips is to enjoy one of their amazing concoctions each day I'm there. My flavor of choice for today was lime rickey (half lime, half grape, all delicious).
I went alone on the first snow cone run of the week while Jenny fixed lunch. BAD IDEA. I bought 6 snow cones and then I had to try to get them home in my car with 4 cup holders. My standard transmission car with 4 cup holders. Needless to say, it was not a fun drive back to Jenny's. It did, however, turn out much better (and much less sticky) than The Great Milk Shake Disaster of Spring Break '08. By they time my snow cone was halfway gone, the pain of the delivery had been forgotten.
Ruby was deemed "too little" to have her own snow cone, but she didn't have any trouble convincing her brothers to share theirs.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's snow cone update. Will peach raspberry win out as the flavor of the day, or will Bahama Mama come from behind to win?
